the vision
there is something magical about the day you find your dress. It's the day you’ve chosen to drown out the crazy noise of planning, suspend time for a few hours and relish in those moments with family and friends. trying on different styles, laughing out loud over that one god-awful wedding dress aunt Betty somehow managed to find in the way back that she just had to see you in. it's filled with laughing, crying, yelling, and finally finding the one!

we believe all brides deserve to experience this magic regardless of budget, style or size, so we created the alter market. alter is an intimate curated consignment event that refuses to compromise on the bridal experience. we are passionate about creating a unique community and beautiful events that connect past and future brides while supporting local vendors, charities and artists.

the alter market bride​
an alter market bride is looking for something other than the traditional wedding dress shopping process; she wants a different experience when buying her dress. something fun, authentic and unique, just like she is.

she isn’t always sold on the current styles and the latest fads but has her own individual fashion sense. an alter bride knows what she wants and is willing to skip the trends. she loves to find a good bargain and isn't afraid to hunt for it. she values personal relationships with her vendors, and wants to know the face behind the brand. she cherishes spending time with the people who are part of her life and makes the extra effort to savor every moment of planning her wedding with them.
the event
alter market looks a little different these days, a little more intimate but our mission remains the same to continue offering beautiful and affordable gowns in an inviting space, sharing our favorite creators, wedding vendors, and people we know in the biz with our community.

(qwa-tel- i know, it's a tough one)
when I was a little girl, my cousin and I would "steal" all the latest bridal magazines from my Memere’s hair salon. every gown that we loved got graded. the "bestest" got marked with triple letter A’s and cut out for safekeeping. when I see a bride out on her wedding day, I can't help but smile and wonder if her gown reminds her of a wedding dress she cut out as a little girl.

somewhere in between grading wedding gowns in magazines and my visions for alter I earned a degree in apparel merchandising, worked at several bridal salons, modeled bridal gowns, volunteered for bridal charities, and produced bridal runway shows.
whew, that's a lot of bridal!

outside of bridal i do have other passions! i have an extreme case of wanderlust and it is nearly impossible for me to sit still! I like to visit farmers markets in most every place I travel. a few of my favorite places that I’ve visited are Rome, La Jolla, Maine and England! I love food, you can often find me plotting lunch while I’m still eating breakfast and thinking about last night's dinner. I have a grouchy rescue cat, Apollo, he runs the show. I believe every great experience can be enhanced with a nice big glass of red wine. I will always say yes to a yoga class, but you’ll have to drag me to cardio (please do not ask me to cycle). I love a great deal, a good thrift trip spent digging through racks and bins is complete therapy for me. I like puzzles, bubble baths, movies, board games, reading, knitting..
I know, I’m 32, going on 91.
